Prof SOO Khee Chee

​Professor Soo Khee Chee started his own surgical practice in Farrer Park Hospital and Farrer Park Medical Centre with an interest in surgical oncology and head and neck surgery.


Professor Soo Khee Chee was a Senior Consultant at Singapore General Hospital, founding Director for the National Cancer Centre of Singapore (NCCS) and Deputy GCEO for Singapore Health Services. He is also Vice Dean at Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore.


Professor Soo is a well-respected and dynamic teacher and mentor to young clinicians. He has personally taken under his wing a number of oncology surgeons as well as clinician scientists who are now making their own mark in Singapore.


Professor Soo also spearheaded the development of various Surgical Oncology Subspecialties at NCCS and at the same time led the Department of Surgery, SGH to new heights of achievement and recognition, both home and abroad, during his 11-years tenure (1993-2004) as Department Head.


Prof Soo Khee Chee has made outstanding contributions in all aspects of clinician mentorship, and has led a team to develop a world- class comprehensive cancer centre. He has achieved well-deserved peer recognition as an outstanding surgeon in orchestrating the drive to create a national graduate-entry medical school.

For his outstanding contribution to the healthcare industry, specifically to the training of young clinicians and setting up a conducive clinical & research environment, Professor Soo Khee Chee is awarded the National Outstanding Clinician Mentor Award 2008. In 2011, he was awarded the President’s Science and Technology Medal in recognition for his contributions to Singapore’s clinical service and healthcare landscape.
