Dr Claramae Chia is Consultant in the Division of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). She graduated from the National University of Singapore(NUS) in 2005 and obtained her membership diploma for surgery in 2008 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In May 2013, she completed her advanced surgical training and joined as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She went on to complete her subspecialty training in surgical oncology focused on peritoneal surface malignancies and was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan - Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Surgical Oncology Programme in 2013. 

She has been actively involved in clinical and basic research with publications in several peer-reviewed journals. In 2008, she joined the Wee Kim Wee Laboratory of Surgical Oncology at the NCCS as a clinical research fellow and won the Singapore Millennium Foundation Grant for Associate Investigator for her translational work in nasopharyngeal carcinoma which won the Young Surgeon’s Award 2013 at the 2nd AMM-AMS-HKAM Tripartite Congress & 47th Singapore Malaysia Congress of Medicine. Dr Chia is also a clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in NUS and teaches Duke-NUS students who rotate through their general surgery rotation.
