Dr Aditi Bhatt
Zydus Hospital, India
As a Cancer Surgeon..
My specialization is in Gastro intestinal (stomach, esophagus, intestines, liver, pancreas, gall bladder) and Gynaecological (ovaries, uterus, cervical) cancers. I perform open and laparoscopic surgeries for all gastrointestinal and gynaecological cancers including liver surgery . I am well experienced in performing surgery for advanced and recurrent cancers. (advanced and recurrent pelvic tumors, liver metastases, advanced and recurrent ovarian and endometrial cancer) . I also perform sphincter conserving surgery for rectal cancer (avoiding a permanent colostomy)
As a Peritoneal Cancer Specialist…
I have trained and specialized in management of peritoneal spread (spread to the abdominal cavity, ie the region containing the stomach, liver, intestines, etc) from various cancers and am one of the first surgeons in India to perform HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy). I am very well experienced in performing cytoreductive surgery for pseudomyxoma peritonei, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, gastric cancer, mesotheliomas and endometrial cancer.
Apart from performing extensive surgery and managing patients after surgery, I also focus on the psychological well being and rehabilitation which is important in bringing patients back to their normal life after surgery.
A lot of patients with peritoneal carcinomatoses have intestinal obstruction. My approach is to enable these patients to lead a good quality of life and recover completely and continue the cancer therapy. For this some patients would have to undergo surgery and others would be managed with drug therapy alone.
