Dr Choo completed her basic medical degree at the University of Nottingham, UK in 1997. She returned to Singapore to do her internship and basic specialty training. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2002 and went on to advanced specialty training in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. She was accredited as a Medical Oncologist in November 2005 and joined the Gastrointestinal Oncology team. She spent a year at UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Centre in 2007 as a fellow, working under Dr Alan Venook. She is heavily involved in clinical trials for GI cancers with a particular interest in hepatobiliary cancers and was instrumental in setting up the phase 1 unit at NCCS. She sits on advisory boards of various pharmaceutical firms and is often invited as a speaker at GI cancer events. She currently leads the Gastrointestinal Oncology department in the Division of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore and is the Chairman of the Clinical Trials and Epidemiological Sciences Steering Committee.
